BMW (Bharatiya Motor Wehicle)
Yup guys! I just watched the news a fortnight ago and we have Jayalalitha, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, exchanging the memorandum with the Vice President of BMW. BMW will be having its own suppliers by 2007, near Chennai. From what I could grasp from the news (which by the way was in Tamil), It seems BMW wants to go global and they find India as a great prospective. They will be assembling BMW locally in the Mahindra City. They say this is the third Foriegn Car to set up a local assembly plant near Chennai after Ford and Hyundai. It seems quite a natural choice, owing to the sea-port location of our good ol Madras City.
My friend obviously squealed with delight (i know i know thats very childish, but this is cars.. and cars are the 'technical babies' for men) and said , well it seems my dream of getting that car is getting closer. I agreed. I mean, heck, even if they sell an auto with a bmw sign stickin on its nose, i would buy it. My friend retorted "yeah, even a cycle would do for me".
Now this is what i call a typical Indian mentality. Cmon, we need to keep up the standards man! I mean if Karunanidhi was in power, before you know he would be posing in Kumudham releasing his new book with a bmw cycle along with each and SunTv will broadcast this as the primetime news (and thankfull forget all about Bill Gates visit with the CM). Well, such is the case with 70 yr old poets in political parties. He will produce an IT minister like Dayanidhi Maran(or Moron) who will bring BillGates to Karunanidhi's house for a talk (on God knows what? new software for karunanidhi's poems?). This will be flashed all over in the news... of course they will conveniently put the happenings of the video on mute (u cant afford to listen to Karunanidhi's translators having difficulty there with Bill Gates.. but nevertheless all say cheeese!)
All said and done, I am happy to note that we are attracting some good quality cars. I know, i know, bullock carts are the best anyday. But all i wanted to say was Buckle Up people, your ride on bumpy muddy Indian roads are going to get smoother. :)
PS : Oh and for lots of reasons, i decided to leave out the name of the friendly freund of mine. He asked me if i was going to disclose anything personal about him. I said nothing personal, just his biodata, cv, maritial plans, bank account numbers etc etc... shhh dont tell him!

The Tables Turned (books remain unturned)
Up! Up! my friend, and quit your books;
Or surely you'll grow double
Up! Up! my Friend, and clear your looks;
Why all this toil and trouble?
The sun, above the mountain's head,
A freshening luster mellow
Through all the long green fields has spread,
His first sweet evening yellow.
Books! 'tis a dull and endless strife;
Come, hear the woodland linnet,
How sweet his music! on my life,
There's more of wisdom in it.
And hark! how blithe the throstle sings!
He, too, is no mean preacher;
Come forth into the light of things;
Let Nature be your teacher.
She has a world of ready wealth,
Our minds and hearts to bless -
Spontaneous wisdom breathed by health,
Truth breathed by cheerfullness.
One impulse from a vernal wood
May teach you more of man,
Of moral evil and of good,
Than all the sages can.
Sweet is the lore that Nature brings;
Our meddling intellect
Misshapes the beauteous forms of things-
We murder to dissect
Enough of Science and of Art;
Close up those barren leaves;
Come forth, and bring with you a heart
That watches and receives.

Teenage Blues
I sat down in the living room in my favorite sofa with my legs stretched out. Here I am a 16 year old young woman who is on the verge of losing any hope of a bright future ahead. My pensive mood sent me back to the happenings of the past few weeks. I groaned. Lord, it had been long ones indeed, filled with misery. It all started one month back when I moved into this new double-storeyed appartment in Baltimore with my parents. It was a huge change from where we had lived earlier. We have moved around so much that I practically have to think twice before I answer where I am really from. Too many things have been happenning too fast.
I had to go to a new school and the first day itself i made a great impression on the girls of my class; that too with a prize winning act of clumsiness. I had tripped on my latest heel shoes and spilled coffee all over the desk. I was a little too glad when finally the teacher assigned locker numbers. I stared at my locker key. It read '13'. Whatever hope I had of having a better day evaporated in the air at the sight of this unlucky number. As I was emptying my books from my bag into the locker, i banged my locker door ... into this boy's head. He turned around and stared at me with blood shot eyes. I was a nervous wreck. Quickly apologies came pouring out of like the gurgling Niagara Falls. I bet I must have sounded as pathetic as I felt. He didnt seem pleased by my manner, but was polite enough to accept the apology and walk away. The bell rang right then and there ended my first, not to mention, worst school day ever. Late that night, my mother stopped me during my supper and made sure she made me listen through the long lecture about 'how responsible I should be since I am now grown up and blah blah blah..'
My first day in class was a memorable one! I hit it off with this quite jovial looking blonde girl. I felt a smile inside my heart and thought about how friendly she was. Little did I know that she had put a big "I am a slut" sign on my back. Only after a blue-eyed girl dragged me into the girl's room and said "you should watch your back" did I realize the sticky note behind. I guess she was a bit too late for the advice! The rest of the week went off with me getting adjusted to the new schedule and attending classes. The young man who's head I had played locker-football with didnt dare to talk to me. As for the jovial blonde girl, I found her sneakily glancing at me, everytime I passed by, and laughing hysterically with her group of pretty friends. My mom, looking at me that week-end asked if anything was wrong. Should I confide in her? Even If i did what do I tell her? Suddenly tears were clogging my throat and I bit back the strong urge to cry and replied "nothing.." in a creaky voice. "I have lots to study ma, I have two class tests coming soon!" saying this I quickly stepped into the safest and the most secure place in the entire world, my bedroom.
Soon I got busy with the daily schedule and tests. I got my first shock when I checked my physics score. I had nearly failed in physics with a mere 67, which is so not me! I faced my dad that day with a teary face. His grim expression said it all. My mother, on the other hand, did the full talking. I could hardly look at her face with my sore big red eyes. I thought maybe I am not as intelligent as I used to be. My old school is so different and I am not used to this new pattern. As I laid back on the cushions in my bed that night, a fear clutched my heart that refused to leave me in peace.
Meanwhile, the only social activity I did throughout the school was to talk to the blue-eyed girl who came to my rescue the other day. She was indeed nice and very friendly. But, she had a part-time job that she rushed to every single day right after school. So, I could not spend any amount of time hanging out with her outside of school. My physics lessons were becoming harder. My physics teacher told me that he would be reconsidering my score only if He sees some strong signs of improvement.
I was returning home yesterday when I realized Mom had left for a meeting and wont be back until late. I searched for the spare keys that I always had but couldnt find them. Alas, panic stricken I rummaged through my entire bag, but couldn't find it. What am i going to do? How was I going to answer my parents?? I waited on the doorstep with my bag. Time ticked off and it was already 2 hours past my usual supper time. I saw my dad coming and he was shocked and not to admit angry at my irresponsibility. I bore through the whole session. Mother played her part very well too. This was the last straw. I fled to my room and wept my heart out. Is it possible for God to make my life any better? I crawled into my bed and stayed there for a long time staring at the ceiling. I hardly slept last night and now here I am with my foul-smelling burnt lunch! The door bell startled my deep thoughts. MOM!
There she stood in the kitchen. She is for sure going to kill me this time. I wanted to burrow my head into a rabbit hole right that instant. I could not pick up enough courage to look into her eyes. I kept staring at her feet. Silence..engulfed the room. It tempted me to finally to look up. I expected an angry face with glaring eyes. But, the face was filled with a strong emotion. Not anger, but.. concern. "Why didnt you call me? I would have told you what to eat.You must be hungry. I will fix you something right now ok?"
I stood there shell-shocked at her calmness in the situation. I suddenly realized what being a mother is all about. I had been too busy with my needs that I lost touch of my loving self. I instantly gave her a tight hug. "heyyy.. what is this" she exclaimed and tried to brush my arms off. I laughed and planted a plump kiss on her cheek.
Later, the feeling of euphoria was soon forgotten at the sight of dad. He was still upset with me about losing the keys. I had dreaded his company since then. He walked into my room and put something on my table. The clunk sound made me look up into his eyes as he said "I got you a new set of keys. Please be more responsible this time". "I will.. papa", I whispered and this time I did mean it. He walked off and I wondered how both of my parents have not been themselves today. Probably it is ME who must have lost touch with their real selves. It was 8 pm and I hardly have time to study for my physics and history tests. I started doing my physics and slept around 3 am.
I woke up, next morning, staring at the radiant sunshine creeping through the window. Somehow, I felt good today. It was a nice feeling that I had not had for a long time. I reached school in time. My blue-eyed friend came along with excitement written all over her face.
"hey.. Guess what? i am having a month leave as the owner's going to be out of town! I am looking forward for both of us to do something after school." My urge to share this excitement with her was too strong and we both giggled and fantasized about all the things we would do together.
I felt my stomach churn as I sat for physics. I got busy doing my answeres as soon as I got the paper. I finished 10 minutes before and realized that I had known every question and had done my best. Finally, it felt good to be smart once again! I walked out feeling proud of myself. "Boy that was easier than I thought" said someone right behind me. I turned around and stared at this familiar person. It was none other than the boy who had banged into my locker. I nodded at his statement. I couldn't resist myself and asked " I hope your head is better after the violent bang". He looked up suprised. A slow grin started on his face. "It has been long forgotten. Maybe you should hang around and remind me more often" I blushed and joined in his laughter. "Hey, do you want to go over history with me?" he asked. "Sure, I will meet you in room 15 in five minutes" I replied a little excited now. He gave a wicked grin and his eyes twinkled. I could feel his smile unraveling its way into my heart. The warmth spread to my eyes and it twinkled in return. I realized that life isnt that bad after all. I smiled to myself and walked towards my locker.
* First of all, thanks for reading uptil this point. This is a something written by me when i was 16.. and I am not quite sure what propelled me into sharing it with you. But, this is pretty much related to my incidents of real life obviously with a bit of exaggeration. ;- ) *

songs of the Veek
here are the songs.. that hav been my favorite for long.. and are the songs that i am in the mood to sing. The two songs below are both similar in meaning.. but very different in the music cateogory. One is an old 80's hindi pop song, while the other one is an R n B Soul song.
The slow beat of this song and the general appeal of this song makes me tap my toes. Very soul uplifting i thought. So here is R n B/Soul song called "Happy" sung in the sweet voice of Ashanti thats available online---> here
Lyrics go as below
Boy you fill me with so much joy
You give whatever it is I need
My love is here to stay won’t ever leave
So glad that you fell in love with me
My love is so good
That I wouldn’t be without you babe
Couldn’t see me without you babe
All my life, I’ve been searching for ya..
Everyday, so glad....... that I found you boy
All my life, I’ve been........ feeling for you
Everyday, I’m soooo happpy....... baby
I’m so happy that I fell in love
I thank god, he sent you from above
I’m so happy that I found someone
I thank god, he sent you from above
Alll my life.... i've been.. searchin.. for ya...
Im sooo happy baby...
The next song is a legendary first ever pop song to be made in Hindi Cinema. From movie qurbaani sung by Nazia Hassan, here is My all time favorite "Aap jaisa koi" available online ---> here
Aap Jaisa Koi Meri Zindagi Mein Aaye
To Baat Ban Jaaye, Haan Haan Baat Ban Jaaye ...
Phool Ko Bahaar, Bahaar Ko Chaman
Dil Ko Dil, Badan Ko Badan
Har Kisiko Chahiye Tan Ka Milan
Kash Mujh Par Aisa Dil Aapka Bhi Aaye
To Baat Ban Jaaye ...
Maein Insaan Hoon, Farishta Nahin
Dar Hai Behak, Na Jaun Kahin
Tanha Dil Na Sambhlega Pyar Bina Yeh Tadpega
Aapsa Kahan Hai Dil Aapko Hi Paaye
To Baat Ban Jaaye ...ahaan baat ban jaaye...
Dun kno why i didnt see it before....
both just strike the right chord! mmmm....

Testimony - Friends Forever
"now i wonder... if i cud fly.. into the sky
do u think time.. will pass me by..
cause u know i'd walk a thousand miles
if i cud just. see u..tonight"
Girl, this is ur sista talkin. Mez dedicatin this post to u solely. Guess wat? Today of all the days, tonight of all the nights.. i remember a precious gem, a trustworthy friend like u. Gosh.. is it really almost a year since we had our last strawberry sundae together? Yah.. the walk and the strawberry double scoop was the best we ever had! U know what.. i kinda lost interst in havin those strawberry stuff anymore...Well, wat to do.. goin into BKing n ordering it.. just doesnt feel the same... if u know wat i mean.
Hehe, U knw wat.. along wit u comes tons of memories! Where do i start with? Silver Tie Stalker? Evil-moment-when no one was available?Jersey boy? Sandwich guys? Burst-the-balloon Guy?Lawyer dance? Balloon football gang? Karaoke time? Computer lab fragrance? history proff? English proff n his wife? Late-for-play? Cinderbabe and Lovelybabe? Mary Kate-Ashley roles? LOL, we were a menace.
Girl.. all this is makin me smile so much.. that my cheeks hurt! But, when i think of how fate intervened.. and we were separated like this.. makes me wanna ask for another boon from God to giv me back the sister of my heart. U kno, the last time we met.. we kinda knew.. that it was going to be the last... didnt we? Although.. it wasnt sure.. we smsed each other at the same time.. and expressed our best wishes for the future. Instincts were so high between us! it was almost as if we were twins.. and our heads and hearts were linked at birth. It was so strange at times.. to be sending message.. while receiving them at the same time. But, now it all sounds like bliss. I mean.. if we hadnt enjoyed those little precious moments.. i dont think we wud be lookin back at them.. and smiling right?
I still remember how we were like soul-supporters. Remember the Church.. and the miracle that we had.. when we picked up the Bible verses. Those little moments brought us together so much... i think winter or summer.. we were walking and talking.. and somehow.. we felt so carefree.. tat the world didnt really matter.. as much as sharing it with each other mattered. I somehow miss that bonding. I know essentially we havent lost that bond.. and its only a matter of time... But, i believe that... those extra mintues we spent to be with each other.. is what helped us build such a strong friendship in such a short period of time.
These are words from my heart, dearest. Luv and affection need not be asked.. it will be given.Happiness and Eternal Success will be urs always.... and i will wait for eternity if i have to.. to share them with you.. and be there for u when u need me the most. My heart aches to think.. that i cudnt be there when it was ur accident. I cudnt be there when u wanted a shoulder to cry. I cudnt be there telling witty jokes to cheer ourselves up.. and i cudnt be there to shed tears with u.. knowing that i m failin miserably. Somehow.. every single affliction in our life was shared so perfectly.. we didnt hav to speak.. we cud feel each other's vibrations and thoughts. We never got bored at any point. Even a normal day seemed eventful.. bcause of the hours of spending with each other. I think.. everyone knows.. just how thick friends we are. It was such a short few months.. and yet the memories r stretching for years. I miss u like hell somtimes.. but somehow always knew that returnin home wud be the best thing for u. Even though it rips me apart.. to see u leave the world and dreams and goals that we shared together.. that we saw together. U know what, there's none comparable who can yield this kind of bonding.. like u did.
This is why i pledge my eternal friendship and love for my sista.
"Forever together, never apart
Maybe in distance.. but never at heart"

Worship-Detailed study
Initially, ppl who lived worshipped Nature and its forms. This is called Sanadhana Dharma. These ppl worshipped Sun, Nature, Animals, Trees.. everything. Were there any temples during this time? No. becase these ppl were essentially nomads. They never stayed in one place. But, as they become more learned and culture started to take its form..they learnt to cook food instead of going in search for it. That is when colonies started forming.If u wud just notice, every single village, town (no matter how small it is) has a temple. Infact, it is just the other way around. Every single temple was built first, and the colony was established around it! When ppl gathered together to settle down in a colony, they first built the temple.
What do u notice the first thing abt any temple? It is vast, with huge walls. There is an outer boundary and then an inner boundary after which the real shrine is found.
In olden times, temple had better architecture than any home, because it was supposed to be the main social place for the folk! Ppl gathered in temple for all festivals. At times of calamity like floods, ppl took refuge inside the temple. It was big and it cud hold all the ppl of that village! It was like a fort! The belief that God protects us is what led to idols kept in this temple. If u notice ur grandma making savories for puja, u see her take a small block of da paste and make a triangular formation on the stove. Then she starts cooking! What is the concept? We believe nothin starts witout God's blessings. Same goes to temples. U build houses in a colony, not before building one for God.
Now, why the need of havin idols worshipped in temples, when we worship nature?
I already told u y having a form of God in temples was important. All idols r only carryin concept. Was ther sumthing special abt that stone? Yes, there is.
Idols are made out of "Panchaulagam" (five metals) The main three are gold, silver, copper.. and the rest two i dun remember, but it changes frm temple to temple. The idol was made and kept inside the shrine by chanting mantras. This is to invoke the God, who is everywhere in everywhere form, to also be in this form. Nowadays, idols r made out of stone. But, the power of the mantras r such that the stone after its kept in shrine is considered holy. The idols also had 'abhishekams'. Wat for? It was to have the mixture of all that milk, coconutwater, curd etc pass thrugh the five-metal-bound idol.. tats supposed to hav immense nutrients to it. U can notice in sum temples the abhishek water is sweet, sum a bit salty n so on.
No temple was started with rules and regulations. As colonies developed and muslim kings took over, muslims arrived. Then later on Christians. I believe, for sure ther must hav been sum kind of hassles which pushed the ppl of the temple to put up rules and regulations..(for the sake of safety). Each temple has its own rules and regulations (based on what circumstances it had to face..)
why some temples in karnatak and kerala (that were quite old) regained the customs of men removin their shirts??? See, i dont know the real meanin behind it. But, here's a gud way to look at it.
If u guys know how namaskarams r done by men and women, then u do notice that its different. Men were told to lie fully on the ground and his chest and forehead shud touch the floor. For his chest to touch the floor, he has to remove the shirt. This is how the old custom started.
While women were told to bend down and touch only their forehead to the ground. Never shud the chest or the womb touch the ground. Both were considered very sacred due to the motherly meaning. The womb is often referred to as 'garbam'. If u notice, all temples hav this very most inner room where the idol is kept, and that room is called 'garba-graham'(graham=house). So u see, women were thought of as quite sacred and holy then.
As culture developed, just walkin out and prayin to Nature with all the distractions around was not possible. The meditation atmosphere was no longer present in the houses. So, the temple was the main meditation centre! We all can study sittin at home, but now we have schools and institutions. Why? Bcause studying there in that atmosphere creates the mood. Same concept. Now doctors ask u to do yoga, to take mornin and evening walks. Hinduism never preached this. It was understood to visit temples in mornin and evening. It was understood to do the namaskaram on temple premises (as part of yoga).
No, the temple is not just built for the sake of 'worship' It was built for the society! Jus like Hinduism is referred to as a way of life, temples also play a part in our lifestyle!

ek woodcutter forest mei tha. and as the usual story goes.. the woodcutter ka axe falls in teh well.and he prays to goddess.. oh goddess .. this axe is everything i have got. please hand it back to me..

Blooming thoughts
This quote reminded me of the ancient symbol of romance... the beauty of flowers... the red red roses... the blue blue violets..sigh sigh sigh.. all movies, novels would automatically link flowers to the new blossoming love! There were times.. when a single flower used to speak volumes..Indian movies specially! We would hav those ever-romantic movies of the 1980's where the two lovers are singing a duet together running around trees and they wud show both of them lookin at each other with those passionate eyes.. and then two tulips in a garden wud be shown leaning close to each other..(on-screen kissing of flowers suggesting humans r also.. in the backdrop) To make things worse they would even show blossoming flowers at every moment the lovers' eyes meet. Talking to flowers.. singing with them.. personifying them.. has been so common.. We have songs in hindi.. like.."phulon sa chehra tera.. kaliyon si muskaan hai" (ur face is like a flower.. ur smile blossoms like them) Or we have tamil and hindi version of a famous song..'anware bhanware jo hole hole gaaye.. /poo pookkum osai athe kekkathaan aasai..'
I think Indians r still connecting flowers to the symbol of love. I even remember few years back me and my friend were having a veryy "important discussion".
"Valentines' day is coming.. do u think ajay will give you ...?"
"(blushes) oh i dont know.. I think he wants to.. But im so scared..."
"But, i think he is nice.. and he just might give you.... the Red rose"
"(GASP) Oh god no wayyyyy.. i wouldnt know what to dooo... i prefer the yellow oneee"
"Oh i hav a feelin he is goinna be givin yellow ones to many friends.. prachi including.."
"But.. prachi already practically hates me.. and now what if the red rose makes it worse?"
"Well. we always have a white rose.. for peace. give her one, and tell her to stay away from ajay cause he is all urs"
(giggles)
---------------------------------------
Coming back to the present..I was having a talk with some locals out here. Invariably, we were talking about flowers.. (in thise case for decoration of something). When my mom pointed out.."u know i hav seen some local guys here.. giving flowers to their love-partners only on specific days like fridays or so.." The other two girls nodded negative saying.."oh i dont know.. but usually today not many guys prefer giving flowers n all to girls.." I butted in saying.."Oh lets not forget not many girls prefer it either.. i mean why wud u wait the little time u spend with ur bf trying to get flowers.. they wud aim higher dear.. like diamond rings " Now this wasnt my personal opinion.. but its what i hav noticed in general from girls around here. They are too linked with the thought of looting their bfs.. that they hav noo time for flowers..:P (ok im being biased). Even if the girl wanted to sacrifice that opportunity.. for something less expensive..the truth of the matter is.. there is probably no flowers in sale for the young lovers! The biggest flower markets are situated right outside the graveyards! Unfortunately...we have a pumping huge old age population.. that its scary! Most of the really old ones happen to live alone in government given places. The bus that i take from the side road near my house goes to the main metro station. But the other destination is the graveyards. So u can imagine .. how many old ppl get on the bus with flowers. Most of them can hardly walk! I am so afraid.. that they might not live till they reach the graveyard. Some of them look like a walking talkin mummy going to cremate themselves. Almost all flower shops(the less expensive ones) are storing flowers for this purpose mainly.
So situation is such in this side of the world, that u can imagine.. a guy giving beautiful set of flowers to the girl.. and she screams.."no no no. wait till im dead!"
Delta Burke:If you want to say it with flowers, a single rose says: "I'm cheap!"( or in this case "I'm dead?")

Marketing exists everywhere!
You go to a party and you see a sexy girl across the room.
You go up to her and say
"Hi, I'm great in bed, how about it?"
That's direct marketing.
You go to a party and you see a sexy girl across the room.
You give your friend a tenner. He goes up and says
"Hi, my friend over there is great in bed, how about it?"
That's advertising.
You go to a party and you see a sexy girl across the room.
You give your friend a tenner.
He goes up to a group of gossips, and says
"Hi, see my friend over there, he's great in bed"
That's P.R. (Public Relations)
You go to a party, you see a sexy girl across the room.
She comes over and says,
"Hi, I hear you're great in bed, how about it?"
Now, that's the power of branding!
p.s. Please substitute "girl" for "boy" where and if applicable. ( hope u know who u are.. if u r not sure.. then u know that marketing is not ur subject! )

R u tryin to be on someone's good books again?
I dont know why.. but i get sick of waking up every single day to the same scenario over and over again. Probably if Sun had parents, relatives, school, exams, love life, friends.. then it would also be thinking at dawn.."shucks.. not another day again. gotta wake up the world.. gotta let them bask in my glory.. not like they care abt me.. i go back home in the night.. and its like they already have enough replacements.. tubelights bulbs what not.. and the light that i give to the moon.. makes it the 'romantic symbol'. Damn.. life is soo unfair.."
Yah.. now isnt that something we get to see every single day in our lives too??? How often do we sit around and think.. Gosh, life is so unfair. Quite often i guess.
I am not tryin to sound down. There is just another way to look at it. If you have been flying high for too long.. then coming to normal.. seems like coming way down.. Thats perhaps the only logical explaination for everything going on around me.
Yes, after turning 20 recently.. i realized the first lesson of my adult life.."never get too excited abt anything. Be sober always.."
All those things that gave me high :
Friends.. Yah, we luv them either too much.. to let them go often. And we find ourselves in the costant tug of war of time we spend with them and the favors we do or they do. I used to do just anything for anyone.. but now i am gettin sober. I will help.. but i wud understand that there is only this much i can do. I am humbled by my limitations.
Love.. Yah, the sweet roses blooming around you.. givin you the thrill coursing through ur veins. I realized.. that we luv the ppl around us way too much to let them scold us. cause when they do then it hurts too much too. Love.. i guess is what is stopping u from kiling me.. and stoppin me from killing u.
Probably, even after this revelation i will continue to wake up to see another day of chaos and a constant struggle to be in the good books of everyone (including my own mind). Does it ever end?
